Blessing of the Animals for the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi

Many parishes in the Diocese of Dallas will be celebrating the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi this week with a Blessing of the Animals Ceremony, including a ceremony at the new Klyde Warren Park in downtown Dallas.

I of the many Catholic traditions that brings joy year after year is the Blessing of the Animals on October 4th, the feast solar day of St. Francis of Assisi. St. Francis is known for being the patron saint of animals because of his great dear for all of God'southward creatures, and his compassion towards them was renowned during his lifetime.

Cathedral Guadalupe is joining other churches in the Dallas Arts District to celebrate the Blessing of the Pets on Fri, October 4th at 7:00 PM at the new Klyde Warren Park, i cake north of the Cathedral at Pearl and Woodall Rogers.
